Getting to Flaine from Geneva airport

The drive to Flaine is a journey of two halves. From Geneva it is motorway all the way to the foot of the mountain, about 45 minutes. Then comes a steady 30-minute climb to the resort, and Go Massif drivers take its many hairpin bends gently, to keep the ride comfortable.

On peak Saturdays the journey can easily take twice as long, and early-morning transfers to Geneva can meet rush-hour traffic. Go Massif set pick-up times to allow for it, so passengers reach the airport with plenty of time to check in.

Flaine transfers: frequently asked questions

How long is the transfer from Geneva airport to Flaine?

About 1h15: some 45 minutes of motorway to the foot of the mountain, then a steady 30-minute climb to the resort. On peak Saturdays the journey can easily take twice as long, and Go Massif set pick-up times to allow for it.

How much does a transfer from Geneva to Flaine cost?

A shared transfer starts at €60 for one passenger. Shared prices follow demand, so the same journey can cost less on a different day, and larger groups get exceptional prices per person. A private transfer is priced per vehicle, so the cost per person falls as the group grows. The quote shows the exact price for each date, as a total for the whole group.

Where do we meet the driver at Geneva airport?

At the Go Massif meeting desk in the main arrivals hall. For a private transfer from a flight landing at the charter terminal, the driver waits outside that building instead. The ticket says exactly where and when to meet the driver.

The centre of Flaine is car-free. Does the transfer still go to the door?

Yes. Every hotel and apartment block in Flaine has vehicle access at the rear, so the transfer ends at the door of the accommodation in every sector: Forum, Forêt, Front de Neige, Montsoleil and Hameau.

Can we collect our keys on the way?

Usually the driver drops one member of the group where the keys are collected, then takes everyone else to the door of the accommodation, as the driver can rarely wait. If preferred, the whole group can be dropped at the key office instead. On the way home, keys and linen must be returned before the driver arrives.

What happens if our flight is delayed?

Let Go Massif know as soon as possible, on the number on the booking confirmation. The transfer is moved to the new arrival time, and waiting is normally not charged. A delay of more than 1 hour may mean waiting for the next available transfer.

Is there a wait on a shared transfer?

Passengers are grouped with others travelling at similar times, so there can be a wait: never more than 1 hour 30 minutes on arrival, or 2 hours 30 minutes on departure. A private transfer is timed to the group's flights, with no stops on the way.

What time is the pick-up in Flaine for the flight home?

An approximate time is on the booking confirmation, and the exact time is confirmed by email and SMS the day before. It allows for the drive down the mountain, traffic and snow, so passengers reach Geneva with plenty of time to check in.

How much luggage, and how many skis, can we bring?

One large bag or suitcase and one small bag per passenger, and one ski or snowboard bag per passenger, up to 5 per vehicle. Anything extra goes in the luggage field of the booking, and Go Massif get in touch if it could be a problem.

The road up to Flaine has many bends. What about car sickness?

Go Massif drivers take the hairpin bends gently. Anyone who starts to feel unwell should tell the driver straight away: the driver can slow down or stop, and has sick bags on board. Children reading or playing on a screen are the most likely to feel sick, so keep an eye on them on the climb.

Are child seats provided?

Yes, free of charge: forward-facing car seats and booster seats, reserved while booking.

Can we stop at a supermarket on the way?

Not on the way. The Migros supermarket in Geneva airport's train station is very close to the meeting desk, well stocked and priced much like French supermarkets, so it is the place to shop before the transfer. Bring reusable bags.
